🍜 Authentic Udon-Making Experience in Nara
Three Guests from the U.S. Enjoyed Handmade Udon and Tempura at “Udon Shokunin Wa Seimenjo”
Located in the Shin-Omiya area of Nara City, Udon Shokunin Wa Seimenjo offers a popular hands-on udon and tempura cooking class where you can experience authentic Japanese craftsmanship.
Recently, three wonderful guests from the United States joined our class! They made udon noodles from scratch, fried tempura, and beautifully plated their dishes—all by themselves.
From Kneading to Plating — A Complete Udon Experience
The class begins with mixing and kneading Japanese domestic wheat flour.
To achieve that perfect chewy texture, participants use their feet to knead the dough—just like real udon masters do in Japan!
After rolling out the dough with a wooden rolling pin and cutting it evenly, it’s time to move to the kitchen.
Here, guests also try frying crispy tempura and preparing toppings.
Finally, they plate their handmade udon, sit down, and enjoy the meal together.
Everyone was smiling, saying, “It’s amazing to make real Japanese udon from start to finish!”

Each participant receives a certificate of completion, a wonderful keepsake from your trip! 🎓✨
